Description

Scan Ladder is a horizontal scan body system developed for full-arch implant workflows, particularly All-on-X type restorations. It consists of reusable titanium scan bodies that attach directly to Multi-Unit Abutments (MUAs) and are designed to help conventional intraoral scanners capture implant positions with greater reliability than standard vertical scan bodies.

The system is open by design, compatible with a wide range of intraoral scanners, and integrates with major CAD and implant planning platforms including Medit Scan, exocad, 3Shape Dental Desktop, and most major implant manufacturer ecosystems.

Each kit includes 6 or 8 horizontal scan bodies of varying lengths. An optional TissueSync Kit is available for immediate loading cases, providing a reference point that simplifies lab alignment in cases involving blood and tissue movement during scanning.

Scan Ladder is designed as an open-system accessory for Multi Unit Abutment (MUA)–based implant workflows, compatible with a wide range of intraoral scanners and CAD/CAM platforms including Medit, exocad, 3Shape, and systems from major implant manufacturers.

Supports Digital Full-Arch Implant Accuracy

Full-arch intraoral scanning is known to be sensitive to stitching errors and distortion due to the long span and limited fixed anatomical landmarks. Scan Ladder’s horizontal titanium scan bodies provide consistent geometric references to support more accurate implant-position capture in All-on-X and multi-implant cases.

Horizontal Scan-Body Architecture

The scan bodies are aligned to converge towards the midline of the arch. This layout helps maintain stable reference points throughout the scanning path, reducing cumulative stitching distortion.

Direct Connection to MUAs

The titanium components attach directly to Multi Unit Abutments, creating a rigid, repeatable connection for implant-level capture. This eliminates variability caused by soft tissue or non-rigid components and focuses the scan on stable metal landmarks.

Reusable Titanium Components

Each scan body is made of medical-grade titanium for durability and repeated sterilisation. The kit includes six scan bodies in multiple lengths to accommodate different implant heights and angulations.

Digital Workflow Integration

Scan data can be exported in standard formats (e.g., STL) and imported into CAD platforms for bar design, framework manufacturing, provisionalisation, or final prosthetic fabrication. Libraries are available for commonly used CAD systems.

Alternative to Photogrammetry Hardware

While photogrammetry systems are highly accurate, they require specialised cameras and workflows. Scan Ladder is designed to enable full-arch digital impressions using a conventional intraoral scanner, offering a lower-cost and more accessible option.
